What Foreign Travellers Should Know Before Booking a Resort in Ranthambore

Planning a trip to India is exciting, but booking a wildlife safari in a place like Ranthambore can feel a bit confusing for international guests. Between different safari prices, ID requirements, and over 100 Ranthambore resorts , it’s easy to get confused.

At Jungle Cave, we host people from all over the world every week. We see the same questions popping up, so we put together this honest guide to help you pick the right resort in Ranthambore and have a smooth trip.

The Passport Rule (It’s Serious!)

In Ranthambore, your passport is your identity. When you book a safari, the government asks for your passport number.

  • The Catch: You must bring the original, physical passport with you in the jeep. A photo on your phone won't work.
  • Our Tip: We always remind our guests at dinner the night before: "Don't forget your passport in the room safe!".

Don’t Let the Safari Price Surprise You

India has a two-tier pricing system for national parks. As a foreign national, your entry fee is higher than for locals.

  • This isn't the resort charging you extra; it’s the government fee.
  • Most luxury resorts in Ranthambore will give you a "total price" that includes the permit, the jeep, and the guide. Always ask if the price is "all-inclusive" so you don’t have to pull out cash at the park gate.

Jeep or Canter? (Choose the Jeep!)

You’ll see two types of vehicles: the 6-seater Jeep (Gypsy) and the 20-seater Canter (a big open bus).

  • For our international guests, we almost always suggest the Jeep. It’s much quieter, vibrates less for photos, and can turn around quickly when someone spots a tiger.

The "Zone" Game

Ranthambore has 10 zones. Zones 1 through 5 are the most famous because they have the big lakes.

  • These zones get booked 90 days in advance.
  • If you’re looking at resort in Ranthambore at last minute, you might only get Zones 6-10. They are still beautiful, but if you want the "classic" Ranthambore look, book your stay at Jungle Cave early so we can help you grab those prime spots.
Food, Water, and "Delhi Belly"

We know this is a big worry. At Jungle Cave, we don't just act like a luxury resort in Ranthambore ; we act like your local host.

  • We use filtered water for everything.
  • Our chefs can make "Non-Spicy" versions of Indian classics, or simple pasta/sandwiches if your stomach needs a break.
  • We also pack "Safari Breakfast Boxes" with clean, easy-to-eat snacks so you don't get hungry in the jungle.
Why Foreign Guests Choose Jungle Cave

Look, there are many Ranthambore resorts , but we focus on the small things. We have a swimming pool for that hot afternoon sun, and at night, we light a bonfire with local folk music. It’s not just a room; it’s the atmosphere.
